How do you do this on the mobile version?

Only way I can get it to work on mobile is to change to desktop setting, filter on shop and then back to mobile view.
A pain but it works

Gold Star: Strip clubs, Lingerie restaurants
Yellow: no online presence

For me, when the map first comes up, there's a "title footer" at the bottom, large white block across bottom of page, Red square with a White marker inside on the left, with the title "Sydney ML WL"
Text below "PM me for corrections" with a web address for the forum member
Scrolling down, you'll see the legend.
