Controversial and aggressive as it may be, the OP's post touches on an important point about maintaining a degree of healthy cynicism and a clear-eyed view when it comes to personal relationships in the ML/WL context. I would even suggest that some of these views likely come from past negative experiences - perhaps being burned a few times himself.
Interestingly, just a couple of months ago I heard a similar perspective from a mamasan at one of the more popular North Shore massage shops. When talking about relationships with a ML, she dismissed the idea of developing any real feelings and noted that most of her girls either have boyfriends or husbands, and those who don't are actively looking. Her view was that if genuine feelings were involved, they wouldn't be charging money for the service.
I'm not suggesting these views are necessarily correct, but it is interesting how similar ideas can emerge from very different sides.

I'd say generally true, although I've known a couple of widows (Occupational Safety departments rather small, no government support for medical issues or insurance...) and some divorcees who were currently unattached.
