It seems to me that you need to decide whether punting is a leisure activity or a way of life.
Spend too much time punting and not enough time socialising in the real world and you'll run the risk of losing touch with what it takes to be a normal boyfriend, brother, husband or friend.

Money will never do all the talking in real world.

I agree with everything you have mentioned.
More so a leisure activity, definitely not a way of life. Mainly used to reduce stress.

I'm not sure why but discretionary spending is at an all time high, must be because of the recession that never happened. Maybe open up a Chatime or EasyWay. Boost Juice seems to do well but most of the franchisee's I speak to say the royalties and cost of rent is too high. Gambling is the cheapest option you have, zero overheads. Just open up a Bet365 account with your credit card and away you go. Study up on moving money lines, point spreads, under/over's, team histories, player injuries etc and you'll have a better than 50:50 chance which is where you really want to be. Don't be disheartened by a few losses just keep playing your strategy and it should pan out well in the long run. I started will a small bank roll of $2K now to date I'm sitting at around $32K. Today I withdraw about $800 every week for my punting, I'm way ahead. Who said gambling isn't a viable profession.

Agree with you, that's why I'm asking for suggestions to minimize or just avoid all together.
Wonderful to see a fellow banker take to this forum.
Do not wish to disclose what I do at the bank. Just know that I work for Aus biggest investment bank, however we aren't fairing so well at the moment (hopefully that will change in time, and hopefully I survive to see the glory days again)
Hopefully the bonus is decent, we find out in 24 days, but no guarantees given some divisions are under at the moment.

Alternatively u will be much happier with a girlfriend. Just goto bars, pubs or clubs after work and meet new people.

I would settle for even 200k, but a substantial proportion of that is lost to tax.
On another note, gillard sucks at managing the economy thus essentially wasting taxpayers money. Most macq staff members are liberal supporters haha..

Maybe join a gym and get shredded and girls will come to you or buy a sports car and join a car club.

I have a friend from HK who is an accountant. Now this guy is terrible with girls, all he does is talk to them about budgeting, balance sheets and tax at clubs and pubs LOL. But to get girls her just waives his credit card around and buy them drinks. This only happened once though.

Or even travel and see other countries. Just some suggestions.

if your a guy who earns good money then you should not have trouble finding a decent girlfriend-sure they still cost you some money but good to have someone to hang with at the weekends and go out with and still have good sex than just an hour or 2 a week and $600.If you still want to punt now and then its up to you.
