Charging 10% was illegal in the first place - the surcharges had to be reflective of the true cost faced by the business. I think most will just offer a discount for cash now.

Gentlemen,
Just a reminder that card surcharges are now banned by law so at any business you go to and especially from a punting perspective at shops where the stories of them slapping 10% surcharges on cards are now finished.
Time is ripe for cash to make a comeback because small business are still going to have to wear those charges.
Pay cash but if it's not an options then remember any business that slaps you with a surcharge is breaking the law.
Happy Punting.

I believe alot of businesses will increase their prices to cover the cost. So irrespective of whether we pay by card or cash we are now paying higher prices 😒

Wait? People actually pay with card at these places? Crazy surcharges! I noticed some websites have 2 prices, normal and cash prices. Cash price is the before normal price and the new normal price is higher with the surcharge. So nothing change.

Thank you for the reminder!

You will probably just see increased regular price with a cash special price, there’s not gonna be any difference
I reckon we’ll see shops raising price over the next couple of weeks

Good topic. Anyone seen if this has changed at any of the more popular establishments? If punting qualifies for air miles thats a game changer![]()

Silly to try to complain about surcharges at these shops.. it’s a cash business, card is a convenience that you’re charged for
All it’ll be will a higher price with a cash discount offered moving forward.

There are still a few shops charging the same 10% surcharge regardless. Some have risen the cost up already (prime example is 48 Velvet).
What can we do anyway we were about to get fucked after the ban. Other many businesses have also up the prices already
