Yes it was a bad batting performance I see Watson did his usual good job and got a duck!

Yeah, pretty ordinary on his part but he did bowl the last over and did well to take the last wicket and won the match, I guess we can par that !!

I think consistency is a big issue with the Aussie side:

with the bat, I think only Haddin had done well in all the first innings throughout the 5 tests. Michael Clarke did the two centuries when it's needed and set up the series win then went totally cold with his bat, did well with the captaincy and the fielding though. then all batsmen except George Bailey (par one over in Perth with 28!!) had all made centuries so I guess they stepped up at various stages of the series - a true team efforts or inconsistency !!

The 4 bowlers though were more consistent than the batsmen and I think they were the group which really won the series.

Aaron Finch made two centuries in the ODI (I think he was the only centurion from both side) but the other 3 matches he was ordinary!!

So we still have plenty of work to do for South Africa !

The top order is doing it again , 4 for 116, Shane Marsh on 32 and Steve Smith on 6, not sure if we can survive the first day ??

Marsh and Smith saw out the first day and remained unbeaten on 4 for 297 forming a promising partnership of 199!

Marsh got a well deserved century on 122 no, Smith on 91 looking good, if they can hang around until lunch time on day 2, with Haddin and Johnson still to come. We should post a handy lead in the first inning!

Smith made his ton and got out almost immediately , and Marsh soon follow, Haddin got a duck but Johnson and Harris added another 50+ from the bowler which is invaluable .

Amazingly, nathan Lyon is still undefeated !!

We will soon find out how our bowlers measure up with the worlds best ! Best 397 is not enough, may be its plenty!

Can't wait , why the bloody held there is No TV coverage for the SA tests ??

We need to get AB de Villiers out next though, and be quick before he goes on and make a big score !

I'm glad for the success of Steve Smith. Was not a fan initially but he has won me over. What should the selectors learn from this? Let a player mature a bit first before throwing him in the deep end. Now hoping Hughes gets a go n makes the most of it.
