Do you realise (do you realise?) that the "universal translator" was a staple of science fiction from the 1940s onwards?

Not for getting kisses from strangers - which depend much more on being handsome like that **** than a language barrier. But for sheer communication!

Or worse, no machine can translate the native dialects, which can speak the human mind. So there could be more unnecessary misunderstanding ?
