Thanks. I own 2 businesses which do OK, but I don't earn enough to really start hiding it. So people below me don't pay the tax, and people above me don't pay the tax, so I pay all the tax.

I had to downsize one of my businesses post-COVID and I was more focussed on recovering the business and I got behind on my BAS.

I caught up a year, put in about $70k worth of tax, paid $38k off, and was going to stick the rest on a payment plan - but I got $27k in fines and penalties on top of my tax payable (which already included a $25k PAYG assessment).

So I gotta get another 3 BAS in and pay them a shitload of money.

Look, it's a COL crisis affecting everyone. To get what you want is to ask for stagflation. Even if it happens only in this small industry it could lead to huge problems for all of us. Who's to say other bosses in other industries don't try to replicate the same thing?

So, inflation with wages going backwards is a big no-no. It absolutely has to go up.

Now on us poor punters, the only thing there is to do is if you can't afford the asking price then don't punt. It's as simple as that.

Some punters consider punting like it's buying eggs in a market, an egg is an egg, you just have to find the cheapest price. Some look at it like buying the best wine to go with their $1000 fine dining experience. It's up to you what you want to do. I'm the latter. I think a few lower than average shops really benefited from inflation.. just look at 45George, their pricing is almost same as 42G! It's like the rental listing. Rentals in Auburn are same as rentals in Epping and Carlingford! Though before the inflation there was a significant difference in weekly rents between these suburbs, the same can be observed in shops around Western Syd and those in North Shore! There used to be a 50-100 bucks difference but now places like 45George are asking 170-190 for 30 min and all the girls are diamond only! Regardless if they do really BS diamond!
