Never been to KTV in Sydney but went occasionally when living in Singapore and the usual story was a fun flirty time with some beautiful girls but always left with blue balls and headed for the Towers.

It's basically what Abracadabra posted below me. This place and others like it are based on the Geisha tradition of Japan. Geisha girls aren't prostitutes, they are highly trained female companions. I don't remember the prices for the drinks but I believe it was over 10 bucks for each drink plus you had to buy a drink for the girl. The girls job is to make you stay in my drinks obviously. And I think it was each hour you stay you're getting charged per person.
