Gojira show the french aren't all cheese eating surrender monkeys..

They are the best French band at the moment. I used to like anorexia nervosa when they were still around and the new bad from their singer is fantastic.

Is been a while but i always loved things like this

Great track!

And yeah, I liked Johnnys cover more than the NIN original, but I feel Trents reworking in that performance is so raw also. 99/100 times I prefer Johnnys version.

Love and miss Prince.
His song Irresistible Bitch get my everytime.
It's about spending all your time and money on a girl who just fucks with other guys.
But you do it anyway because what she does to you outweighs all you've lost to her.

Makes total sense to me now after being obsessed with a few WLs.

Tunes of interest off the new album....
By and Down the River - already said it, but haunting as hell.
Eat the Elephant - title track. Is pretty fucking good. Is very fucking good.
Disillusioned - another killer.
The Doomed - first track released last year from the album.

In as much as Thirteenth Step had alot of bowed instruments that added depth, Eat the Elephant uses the piano to take the songs so much further. On Disillusioned, at one point it's Maynard with just a few very simple keys being played. Then the same keys minus vocals. I got goosebumps the first time I heard it.

Time Out by Dave Brubeck Quartet.
I always come back to this classic jazz album recorded way back in 1959 (when I was a spritely 67 year old pensioner).
Every time I listen to it it just sounds better - an absolute masterpiece - weird time signatures, eastern and Balkan influences, and West Coast cool all brilliantly fused.

FUCK YES ! I use to listen to this song on repeat hard back in the day.

When I use to smoke weed at my mates house at Redfern, not too far from 278, I use to head into the city afterwards tripping off my head. I had this song on repeat sitting in Hyde Park chilling out. Ohhh those were the days.

Watched Scratch last night. Cool doco. Got talking to a mate about it for hours afterwards. And like many of the artists, a young teenage Raybo was blown away by Herbie Hancock in the 80's. The kids at the Blue-light discos i would regularly attend in Western Sydney would collectively lose their shit when Rockit was played. Breakdance posses would appear from nowhere and dance-offs would invariably ensue. It was the start of my love affair with all things rap and hip-hop.

This track still shoots tingles up my spine.

I am sure there is an even bigger nerd than me out there who will correct me on this.
But my understanding is that this video was the most viewd video on youtube for a while.
previous to this was Psy Gangnam Style.
But then Despacido came along and become the biggest.
So unless something major has happened overnight i think its:
1.Despacido
2. See you Again.
3. Gangnam Style.

Recuerdos de la Alhambra composed by Francisco Tárrega and played by Kyuhee Park.
Classical Spanish guitar played by a Korean girl ... that's as good as it gets ... all I need is a Thai meal and a Scotch Whisky and I am in heaven on earth ... oh and a blowjob from a Japanese girl too ... and then I will happily go to the electric chair ...
Here she is .. the music is so beautiful even if a fat old ugly 90yo Andres Segovia is playing it ... but played by a gorgeous Korean girl takes it to another level.
Her musicianwomanship is beautiful and perfect (her tremolo is second to none - as good as old farts like Segovia, Bream or Williams), and I love her facial expressions, poise and grace.
She has that Korean aloofness disguising an underlying passion.
I especially love the ending where she has that Mona Lisa quasi-smile of self satisfaction and contentment ...
I actually think she looks more Japanese then Korean, but hey I am just a dumb gaijin/waigukin so what the fuck would I know ...
Anyway here is the video ... it's only 5 minutes so check it out ... you will be a better man for having seen and listened to it ...

Good find rooter ! Although I find her tremolo not as smooth as it should be, the first note seemed to be always heavier than the following two notes. I’ve heard quite a few interpretations of this master piece, one Japanese played it to perfection technically, but not artistically, it sounded mechanical. Whereas the grand master Andres Segovia can take me far far away, leave me to interpret the story behind the music all by myself. The memoir can be happness, sadness, achievement, loss, love, pain... anything I can imagine... ahh.. the power of music, you’ll appreciate it more if you can play classical guitar.

Not quite the typical Springsteen! Haunting. Some people talking about the lyrics say the meaning is the opposite of Born to Run..... definitely picking up on the guy that is defeated but not giving up.

Yes, you are right in that it is opposite. Darkness on the Edge of Town came out 3 years after Born to Run. And it had Springsteen at 29. He obviously had won and lost in he's own life by then. So it was a lot more broken than earlier works. Anyway, we are reading to much into the comment. The 3rd verse of the song screams that I will be on that hill with everything that I've got. It's been 18 months now and I think you know the hill. Good luck with the Filipino my friend. We are getting to old for failure 😎🤞

I recently picked up a book of his quotes. What I like about him is I don't necessarily agree with his position on some things, but he challenges you to think and in this day and age, thinking seems to be a lost art!

13 years is a long time between drinks! I will have to listen to the full album, something that sadly doesn't happen so much these days. Dare I say it is a bit of a step back to the mainstream for Tool.

Speaking of tools, Wengshun? I have always said Wensheng! No wonder Chinese girls look at me like I have 3 ears when I try to converse with them! May need to refine my broad Aussie accent in this ever changing multi-cultural world we live in to get to the next level!

I have reminisced with Flight of the Conchords this week, ironically, almost 13 years since their TV series was released. For 'WengShun'. 😁😁
