When your house burns down because your next door neighbour had a fire and you did not install sprinklers in your house, can you blame your neighbour for "not doing a good enough job of keeping the fire away from your house"?
Since early Jan, the Chinese actions in Wuhan have been all over the news. Hell, this very forum thread started way back on 23 Jan. We all saw how massive the reaction was in China. Everybody saw how bad it was.
Did Trump do anything about it? Did Scomo do anything? What about the Govs of other Western countries?
On the other hand, look at what the Govs of other Asian countries started doing, way before any of the complacent Western countries started to worry.
No sir, the real culprit for where we are right now was the complacency of the Western countries.... Time to own up to it!
So your defense is "but USA bad"? Incidentally this is also the play the CCP is using.
Would countries have taken action more quickly if China didn't:
1. Silence the doctors trying to warn people
2. Covered up the situation for weeks
3. Lies about human to human transmission
4. Cried "racist" when countries wanted to stop flights to and from China
Both stopped inbound travellers from China - at great political and economic cost.
Unfortunately Italy and Spain didn't, so the US copped it anyway second hand.
While Japan and Singapore made good early strides, there numbers are now looking on an exponential increase. Only South Korea and China seem to have done it effectively.
The list doesn’t say you can visit family, loved ones or friends real or otherwise lol I think that is the primary reason the list is for, to stop the virus from spreading. Bummer as I was about to go and see a private this week. I saw it also on tv that if you are going out of your house and get flagged by the police and you don’t have a valid reason (see list above) you are going to cop a fine or imprisonment. No thanks. I’ll stay put and just see ms. Palmer. How many punts would that be if you paid the fine. Too much of a risk!
Taiwan. You're ignoring how well Taiwan have handled it.
Hardly surprising given the CHO (let's not call them the WHO given how hard they bend over to appease Chinese interests) have suppressed that info.
And are we really believing China's reporting of figures? As Jimbonz said, China's record in this whole sorry affair is appalling. The blame for how quickly this deteriorated lies squarely on their shoulders. How each country has handled it is due to misinformation from the outset. Taiwan and Singapore as examples had seen SARS etc previously and acted quickly based on their own history with previous disease outbreaks. South Korea too.
Morrison etc actually went against WHO advice and Chinas fist waving by closing travel from China when they did. Can you imagine what it would be like if they hadn't and appeased China?
There are videos and reports emerging daily from within China suggesting it ain't all as rosy as they would have us believe. So who do we believe, a dishonest authoritarian regime that will silence any who disagree with their rhetoric, or social media and all that entails in regards to fake news etc?
The latest report is that the US has overtaken China as having the highest number of infected cases. Now news has surfaced that the Chinese government was not reporting correct numbers of positive cases. If the person was positive but asymptomatic, then it was not recorded as an infected case. What the hell! Just typical of a communist regime misleading its own people and the world of what is really going on.
I'm also getting lots of so called reports from chinese wechat groups and whatsapp groups. But everytime anyone ask about the source of that "news" everyone says it from a friend who forwarded it from another friend, etc. No one has actually seen it with their own eyes.
I know there are lots of anti-chinese sentiments in the forum. So saying this will draw me flak. But all I'm saying is even if the news is for anywhere else, whether it's India, Indonesia, etc. Unless there are validated sources. We shouldn't just accept it as the truth.
Reminds of a conversation I had with the grand parents of some Malaysian friends. They say the Japanese are the worst since they lived through the occupation. They hate the Japanese, etc. And then they go back to driving their Toyotas, cooking rice with their Panasonic rice cooker and watching TV on their Sony.... ;)

Worth a watch.
The problem with waiting for validated sources out of China is, it is China. As the above link goes through, those who dissent disappear. Those who blow the whistle are dealt with. I agree we can't believe everything thrown at us, but perhaps we split the middle, and even then it paints a dire picture of what has happened and is happening.

“The claim that the United States has more coronavirus deaths than China is false,” Senator Ben Sasse, a Nebraska Republican, said in a statement after Bloomberg News published its report. “Without commenting on any classified information, this much is painfully obvious: The Chinese Communist Party has lied, is lying, and will continue to lie about coronavirus to protect the regime.”
I was thinking if there is Dr here that can answer.. what about transmission via BBBJ ? (eg Glory hole type situation where the only contact was with the dick through a wall or receiver wearing mask etc).
