They are using a mixed testing method like grouping 10 people’s samples at a time and do the 1 test, if negative , move on, if positive then retrieving the details of the 10 people and test them again individually. Save a lot of time and resources. That’s how they used to test the entire population in Wuhan and most recently Beijing. So testing 7 millions is like testing 700K.
That’s how you can find out all the virus carriers and infected people with no symptoms and preventing them from keep spreading it into the community. May be something the Victorian Government should consider ?

I'm so sick of reading bad news out of Hong Kong, this at least is a bit of good news.
That brings up another point. Last time I read, the serum labs here were charging $200 per test. This was their amount to test for this or that before the pandemic.
Despite the huge uplift in testing scale the ****'s have kept it at this price. They are making super profits from the pandemic at the expense of the taxpayer when so many are suffering financially and the nation is sinking in debt. It is absolutely unconscionable and the government needs to put pressure on them to reduce the price. Kick the greedy ****'s up the arse.
Who doesn't reduce the unit price if someone who usually buys 10 is now buying 1000?

31,000 tests conducted in NSW x $200ea = $6,200,000 just in the past 24 hours.
And this has been going on for months, with months still to go.
It is just a lab and a machine. Once they are bought, and a few crumbs in tehnician wages, the rest is pure profit. It is just a service fee, no capital outlay to produce it.
We should be doing the Hong Kong method and mixing the samples into batches of ten and testing only once. Even then they'd still be making a bomb out of us.

Australia, specifically Health authorities in Vic already know about this approach.
My guess is that what works in China may not here. Wuhan to test 11million ppl setup popup test centre in every neighbourhood, every factory and go door to door to test the elderly and ppl who are unable to travel down to the test centres. Results are sent to the person's smart phone. Their objective was to identify any asymptomatic carrier so they can be quarantined and stop the spread.
That may not work here. As many ppl dun wanna be tested. As we can see from the news many asymptomatic carriers in Vic are still going around, hence why stage 4 was necessary. Highly doubtful stage 4 will work. It may bring numbers down temporarily.
China is aiming for eradication when they find ppl or areas infected, those infected would be whisked away to separate quarantine sites until they are clear of the virus, not even home isolation. AU strategy is different. Just trying to keep the number low. And allow a slow spread across the community, which is like embers, anytime another large fire will happen again and again.
I feel the pain of AU healthcare frontline members and understand why the AMA wants to push for a change in strategy to eradication instead. Just look at the number of frontline members getting infected by the constant flow of infected ppl and the lack of N95 or full ppe gear for the frontline health members.
I'm not saying to test whole populations. Keep the same number of tests but mix ten samples together and test that. We'd save 90% on testing fees and stop being ripped off during a pandemic.

Trump should have got onto one of the phase three vaccine trails as a sensible precaution. By phase three stage (30,000+ people) any adverse risk possibility is extremely low. Eg. there haven't been any attributed to the vaccine in all of the phase three trials. Whereas the risk of him getting it in the huge campaign circles he moves in was very high.
