If you are rude AF you will find lots of staff spit into your food. If you are nice and ask politely you will get extra portion no problem, with a smile on top. And hotels, for example. Some people try to get angry and threaten a lot of stuff when they dont get what they want - they ended up just getting ignored or blacklisted by whoever is in control. Some people just be very polite and nice, and ended up getting upgrades and freebies and a lot of stuffs. its human nature to be nice to nice people, and to get angry at jerks.
