Five once in a generation talents all playing together in the same era. No wonder Qld could hardly be beaten for 11 years. From my history reading it was the the same thing with the St George team of the 60s, who also had a group of once in a generation players. 11 straight premierships, (and one either side of that?). And 11 years is about the career length of a rugby league player, so there is the obvious answer.
The angst about nsw losing year after year never worried me. I just felt privileged to be able to watch that rare combination of a small group of champions playing for Qld together. Those five are going to be named immortals in the future, and nsw or qld supporters, we were all lucky to have the privilege of witnessing their unique combination.
