You’re missing the point. She tells them that she can host at “her place”. When they turn up it’s a cheap hotel / serviced apartment.

Or her other story is that she’s travelling interstate as an event manager for the company she works for and she’s got her own hotel room in the city. All sounds plausible when she even describes the boring corporate event.
