Unfortunately they're still together. Then again the wife isn't too smart herself. She was an international student desperate to stay here and the husband at the time they've met actually had an ABV gf and was about to get engaged. He broke up with the ABV for her, probably because she was giving him more attention and sex compared to the ABV.

Some couples are attracted to each other because of their mental capacities. Those with higher mental capacities tend to live their relationships in a more constructive way, therefore it is not wise to take advice from people with lower states of mind. For example, if a wife were to allow the husband to punt when she's not sexually available she would've communicated in one way or the other what she expects - no BBFS, only certain price points allowed etc., rather than throw tantrums like lower mental state couples do. The highest state of minds would of course take a hint that they should abstain until the partner is ready for fun times again.

The benefits of having a constructive relationship is that when they have kids, the child will pick up the habit from their parents and learn how to be constructive and communicable themselves.
