South Korea: A Thriving Sex Industry In A Powerful, Wealthy Super-State
South Korea, a wealthy, powerful Asian super-state, technology hub and stalwart U.S. ally, has a deep, dark secret. Prostitution and the sex trade flourish in South Korea just under the country’s shiny surface.
Despite its illegality, prostitution and the sex trade is so huge that the government once admitted it accounts for as much as 4 percent of South Korea’s annual Gross Domestic Product -- about the size of the fishing and agriculture industries combined.
Indeed, paid sex is available all over South Korea – in coffee shops, motels, hotels, shopping malls, the barber shop, as well as the so-called juicy bars frequented by American soldiers and the red-light districts which operate openly.
Internet chat rooms and cell phones have opened up whole new streams of business for ambitious prostitutes and pimps.

Crikey, imagine a hotel in Chinatown like this:
As an illustration of how widespread prostitution is in South Korea, consider that in January 2012 police raided a nine-story brothel in the upscale Gangnam neighborhood in Seoul. Police discovered no less than 100 prostitutes working there, ostensibly as "hostesses," who charged at least $300 for sex. This complex generated more than $200,000 every day, according to local media reports.
The article says: "It is unknown if the men involved had been at the club."
So I guess, you could say "Man shot near Sydney sex club / brothel / massage parlour" in relation to any shooting in Sydney, as pretty much every suburb has one of the said establishments.
But from a "journalistic" viewpoint (read: looking for the shock factor, as if shooting would not be enough) it makes more "interesting news" if you tie the two together - even if as loosely as in this news article.
Whether that is true or not makes no difference as he does not specifically say so. And granted, it happened at 1 am when all other businesses on the street are closed.
I'm not sure whether the journalist is also trying to make the innuendo that the shooting may have something to do with homophobia (the club in question, as mentioned in the article is a gay club).
Queensland: Logan brothel Club 26 offers truckie discounts, cheap sex on Tuesdays and loyalty program
TRUCKIES discounts, a loyalty card program and cheap Tuesdays are all part of the service for a legal Logan City brothel.
Crestmead brothel Club 26 owner Marty Box said anyone holding a heavy vehicle license received 10 per cent off services.
"It's a way to help the hard-working blokes unwind,'' he said.
Discounted pleasure services are well-earned by truckies and tradies, said Mr Box, who reckons while these blokes may not be locking up criminals or saving kittens from trees, they do work hard and deserve recognition.
And if they make a habit of returning, they can save even more with the loyalty program.
"We've had truckies discounts for quite a while but we are adding other discounts, like for tradies as well,'' Mr Box said.
Mr Box said most of the brothel's clientele were blue collar workers - with the occasional professional - and almost all clients used the loyalty program, which gave them a $70 discount on any booking after racking up 100 points.
"It's a points system - if they come in, they get a fixed amount of points for the time they spend and once they get 100 points they get a half price, half-hour booking or $70 off any booking,'' Mr Box said.
Mr Box said the brothel had tried many discounts over the years to try and vary their clientele, including special rates for couples, which never seemed to be popular.
And while he may be marketing one of the oldest professions in the world, Mr Box has kept up with technology and is now using social media to connect with a wider audience.

Business for sale has sex appeal
A WAGGA investor could have a happy ending with a brothel now up for sale in the city.
The current owners of Gypsy's @ Riedell are setting their sights on Sydney after buying a bigger brothel there.
That means that the nine-bedroom establishment in East Wagga is now available to someone with a spare $1.1 million.
The new owner would see a net profit of $113,000 each year.

MASSAGING THE AIRWAVES
Surely it was worthy of using the infamous ''kill switch'' 2DAYFM installed to thwart Kyle Sandilands' best attempts to commit on-air harakiri? Sandilands was espousing the delights of his favourite Chinatown massage parlour this week, a place called Babylon which he declared he ''loved''. Investigation revealed a list of ''services'' on offer at the innocently named ''spa''. And with both a Chinese and Korean ''menu'' on offer, PS was surprised to learn this does not mean dumplings and kimchi, but rather the masseuses.
A retired lawyer from Bathurst has set up a bank account at Comm Bank to accept donations to help pay for Craig Thompson 's legal bill to defense his charges on misusing the union credit card to pay for brothels and escorts.
Well then, will you be willing to contribute to a fellow punter who used the union funds to fuck around in the high end of town!!
Oh no, he actually denied he ever visited brothel or call an escort, so he is not even a bona fide brother !!
What the !!
This is pretty sick.
Porn star turned novelist Sasha Grey talks sex with Sunday Style
SASHA Grey admits she can feel shy about asking for what she wants during sex.
This is a woman who has starred in more than 200 adult films, and who, at 18, in her first shoot, went off-script and requested her Italian co-star, Rocco Siffredi, become even more extreme during one scene.
“Even women who really are confident in their sexuality, or know what they like, we’re still sort of submissive in the sense that we always want the man to make the first move.
"And when you find a partner you match with sexually, you often let the man take the lead and then that becomes dangerous, because it [gets] repetitive,” she explains.

Prostitution Thriving In China: The Dark Underbelly of Economic Prosperity
Officially illegal since the 1949 Communist takeover, prostitution is nonetheless a widespread, mostly underground, industry in China.
Perhaps no other Chinese city is more closely associated with the world’s oldest profession than Dongguan in the Pearl River Delta, located at the vast country’s southeastern corner, near Hong Kong.
According to a report in Hong Kong’s South China Morning Post, some 300,000 sex workers operate in the streets, massage parlors, karaoke bars, saunas and hotels of Dongguan; and up to 800,000 people
-- an extraordinary 10 percent of the city’s population – are involved in the sex trade in one form or another.
