Things You Look For in Shops?

Been out and about to most shops but I can never seem to find the perfect one - if the shop is spotless and fresh the lights are too bright? If it’s clean and well lit there is no back door? Or if there’s everything going for it it’ll have carpet and not tiles or something.

So far for me the closest thing I’ve been to is Smithfield Sakura. Back door, obsessively clean, dimly lit etc. the only thing it lacks is more parking at the back (sometimes when busy it gets full)

What are your thoughts? Or any recommendations for discreet, well lit and clean? One of my punting mates likes brightly lit, and I prefer dim more relaxing lighting. Understand everyone’s got their preference

    The Gold Standard

Summerville - hotel room standards: en-suite toilet: shower, sink, toilet; massage table; chair or love seat; coat hanger; clean; dimmable lights; rear entrance; decent towels; front entrance reasonably discreet with door always ajar (no bell to ring); great mamasan; great staff, some tenured, others guest.

What's with several mentions of "safe" recently in several threads? This is Sydney not Phnom Penh, and the only land mines I've seen are dog poop on the sidewalks. Have yet to have to dodge incoming from popcorn warriors, and certainly SYD is not a divided BER... Yet... as I posted elsewhere, crossing streets here... isn't EVERY intersection a ped xing, marked or not, where pedestrians have the right of way?

Geezus bro, are you going for a punt or to audition for a role as a judge on The Block?
And what the hell is wrong with carpet rather than tiles?

A friendly mamasan goes a looooong way toward making a place worth going back to, even if it's dingy otherwise

I like the No5 rooms because of the natural lighting and the furniture, so the environment is more dynamic. Unfortunately there are no sinks or basin which is annoying and a big negative.

Generally dislike carpet, I prefer the aesthetic of a wooden flooring.

Having seen one of the new Ginza club rooms, I think I prefer the red lights of Empire, although it can get boring after a while.

Discreet entrance, reasonably well kept doesn't have to be spotless, and most importantly, welcoming reception.

Lived in Italy for several years. Just join the crowd, safety in numbers.

BKK used to be problematic but last few years, cars seem to respect crosswalks. Now PRC... LONG blocks, jaywalking essential, lot of traffic including SILENT electric motorbikes turning corners...

Actually, anywhere you don't know the unwritten rules of the road, the "understanding" between drivers and pedestrians...

Never really thought about this but now that I do, I think I'm pretty tolerant with shop quality. I guess if you've punted for 30 odd years you're bound to have been in real dumps doing the deed.
To me, places like the Ginzas are like 5-star establishments. Or SGM, beautiful heritage building with recently refurbed interiors. Love that place. I wish we had those quality showers when I was punting there more than 15 years ago when it was still 5-star.
You guys don't know how good you've got it. The nitpicking from OP is really millennial in my view.

I used to look for pointless and frivolous things, now it's just thin walls.

Roster/ girl quality and good pricing has always been number 1.

Though shower is preferable but not a show stopper.

Though not big on shops (rarely go in fact) I rate Miss Heavens in Cleg Street at Artarmon (only visited once) as high , N5M as average (maybe only once or twice) , and Bellevue 12 (only maybe twice or trice) as low for brothels , massage shops 160 Bondi Road (numerous times) , Le Soleil Croydon ( trice or 4 times) and 311 Bunnerong Road as high to above average .. too many brothels and massage parlours to recall and visited in past years and rarely revisited to rate .. main reason I do outcalls to hotels or incalls once I get to know the ladies

No 5 and 42 have have good spacious rooms except that one room at 42 near the toilet (street entrance) which is a bit small.

Overall, rooms and lighting is the thing I like.

Yeah but in Rome not only you got the traffic to contend with you also got the gipsies.

Same in Paris. Just don't let them dog pack you. Pays to know a few words in the local language for English GO! TONE and COMMAND voice add a lot, as do sharp elbows (think ice hockey or basketball rebound). No cop is going to cite you for high stick or elbowing. Nice guys finish with picked pockets.
