Nah bro you've been fed horseshit. Paid VPN, a decent browser (and not the overhyped crap) and a 5G or 50/20 NBN service will do the trick. If you're connecting using wifi you gotta use 802.11ax or WiFi6/6e (not 2.4Ghz a,b,g,h shit which is crap and fucked). Anything better/higher than the above specs and you'll be cooking with gas.

Not really, VPNs are quick! Most VPNs allow you to pick the location of the proxy server. For example, if you want to watch pornhub, just pick a server in NZ or Singapore and it'll be fine. You won't notice the slow down at all.
