If I was that American player I would have taken a principled stand and not played. I would have said ***k Trump, ***k you Infantino, you pair of corrupt ****'s. I will not be tarred by your brush. The games's integrity is far more important and bigger than either of you so keep your filthy hands off it. In support of integrity I'm not playing.
It would have been a huge stand against the graft and corruption FIFA stinks of anyway, as does Trump, and that footballing dope would not have taken on their stain like he was an infant with no choice.
You know what I think would have happened if he'd taken that stand? He not only would become immortal and famous by that fact alone, it would have then likely been ascension by universal acclamation as the new FIFA president. Like Ewan McGregor's tilt at the Popehood in Angels and Demons. Instead the soccer dope with all that potential for change, with all that principled power in his hands, what did he do instead? He played a game of soccer. Like he's played hundreds of before. And sinking back into the anonymity he deserves. Talk about 'king wildly assymetric outcomes.
