I was very confident that Happy Trails is gonna back up in the Mackinnon Stakes on Saturday and win easily, put a $100 each way on it @$4.60
Unfortunately a mishap in track works has ended his Spring Carnival - got my full refund.
So, I have now selected another horse in the Mackinnon Stakes:
Dear Demi @$10.00 - each way in Sportsbet - interestingly, Dear Demi is $5.50 in the TAB !
She ran 3rd in the Underwood and 3rd in the Caulfield Cup and the forms around her is very strong. If she wins or runs into the placings on Saturday, she will have a good show in Melbourne Cup.
DD won the VRC Oakes at Flemington last year, so she's got class. and her bloodline pedigree suggested that she can be anything!!
Dear Demi is out of Dehere (Northern Dancer line crossing with Secretariat who had already sired a Cup winner in Kingston Rule), out of a Zabeel mare Shirley and the dam was Merlene (a Golden Slipper winner by Danhill also on the Northern Dancer line)!
She is 4 yr old mare, only has 51.5 kg in the Cup and has Chris Munce on who had already won the Cup on Jezabeel - another Zabeel mare.
But again, the significant thing is, Dear Demi is $26 with the TAB and $34 at Sportsbet. So got in early to have some value. The way I see it, after Saturday, she will tighten right up.
