Yeah you're right about I Don't Like Mondays. Somehow I thought it inspired a shooting. Might've confused it with another song.

Think this may have something to do with the copyright issues around playing music in commercial businesses. It's a bit of a legal minefield if you try to do it on your own, so there's an organisation called OneMusic Australia that specialises in getting the licenses and compiling playlists for businesses to use in their venues to make it easier for them to just have music playing in their place of business.

I wouldn't be surprised if all those venues you visited were using the same playlist from OneMusic Australia.

Zigg, I was married to a Korean, my daughters friends are mostly Korean with some Chinese, a lot of my friends are Korean, I've had nearly 20 years of Korean music played to me, at parties, in restaurants, in the car, I've been to Korea, what, nearly 10 times? and I'm yet to hear more than 3 kpop songs I would actually choose to listen to. It's not for me. The videos for the girl bands are great eye candy, but no, the music does nothing more for me. Bearing in mind I have lived in Japan and Hong Kong also, so had my fair share of Jpop (which strangely I found more likeable than kpop on the whole, but still not my preference) and Cpop (not a single song worked for me).
Sweeping generalisation, yeah absolutely, but one based on a fair pool of gathered data.

But that's the beauty of music, what one person likes another despises etc. I don't begrudge those who like it, if it rocks their boat power to them.

Arrived home tonight to the news my friend has passed away.

She was diagnosed with cancer last year, beat it, but earlier this year was told it had returned, far more aggressive, and there was nothing that could be done. For the past few weeks, when I could, I've been going to her place to drop off food for her family and read to her while she lay in bed. She loved literature. It was the only thing I could do to help...
