I realise I indulged in some stereotyping there with mention of Lakemba and Auburn; actually these crimes took place (and the alleged criminals live) in Sadleir, Miller and Heckenberg. I don't know if many people on this forum are very familiar with those suburbs (there are at least a few folk from Livo way here I think); I had the misfortune of spending some of my formative years in Sadleir and Miller - they were fucking holes then and I'm sure they're no better now; dropping some bombs there (or better still, nuking them from orbit to be sure) might improve the area. In those days there wasn't a huge middle eastern population there, it was a mix but majority 'white trash'. There was a lot of crime, much of it petty, some of it pretty bad; a lot of stuff maybe not as horrific as this, but some of it not dissimilar (probably worse stuff that I never heard about), in those days it rarely made the headlines. I was lucky enough to get out of there early - it's not an exaggeration to say that a number of people I grew up with who didn't leave early enough ended up in gangs, in jail or dead. I'm not about giving people a free pass on crime because they did it hard growing up or are a product of their environment - it may be a reason, but it's not an excuse. Point is though, if people are going to blame 'Arab culture' for this crime by these guys, consider other factors too - a combination of Australia's immigration laws, approach to crime and crime prevention, the way our cities have evolved so that large collections of particular migrant groups congregate together, often in very low-socio economic areas where crime rates were high before they got there, the design of a lot of Sydney's 20th century outer suburbs which created these shit holes, gang culture, a general and growing disrespect amongst boys and young men (hell, and older men who should know better too) towards women (often due to the influence of fucktards like Andrew Tate) - while ethnic culture may play a part, there's a lot more going on here than just 'they're Arabs'.
