The people who proposed the SL don’t really understand football, the Clubs, the fans and most importantly the traditions , they are bean counting businessmen !!

Two absolutely one sided belter to start the NRL round! Storms beating the Rabbitohs 50-0 where Aldo-Carr scored 6 tries ! Then the Panthers skins the Sharks 48-0.
Making an early prediction for the Grand Final this year, can’t really see any other teams troubling the these two ?
May be Parramatta the only other dark horse?
Let’s hope they all stay healthy!
Bad luck to the Rooster, losing so many troops !

Yes i am very very concerned about the leader's of tomorrow. Take Jr Sport it is headed in the direction of handicap racing. For those not familiar with the sport faster and more courageous horse's carry more weight with the intention of bringing them all to the wire at the same time. The more often they win the more weight they are forced to carry in the next event.
I suppose it makes it more exciting for the spectator's , but the winner's are bred to win and they only want to be in front.
Its in their genes. It break's their spirit and heart's. Society needs leader's bred from Champion's not weakling loser's who were the runt of the gerbil's litter.

Can we bring back Smith, Cronk, Thurston and Slater out of retirement??
Failing that! We need Ponga at the back, move Holmes out to the wing where he can score tries. Up front add Josh Papalii and Welch back healthy would add some strength, also Ben Hunt on the bench. Got to try something at Suncorp!

We have blow out scores weekly now, look at the combined total scores 2 games this round hit 80 points in a game! That’s not RL VLandis has no clue.
The last thing the game needed was a discretionary penalty system in 6 again bingo, it’s turned into touch football. We use to laugh at super league in the UK and now we are worse.
Penalties and rules in a sporting contest need to be as black white as possible in any sport.
Adding a discretionary penalty system is idiotic and clueless and will forever be inconsistent.
The game needs to slow down not speed up RL is a defensive based game. It is far better when it’s tight close and low scoring. The best game I have seen in 20 years was Many v Roosters 2013 4-0.

I am a Queenslander and I cannot see NSW being beaten for at least 5 or 6 years. I think that in the NRL has approximately 500 players of which only 90 or so are Queenslanders, so the numbers (and the talent) are stacked against us.

So true, the Origin arena from the very beginning had been a very close and tight contest. Many games and series were decided right down to the wire and very often were decided by a single moment like that Queensland miracle try, a last minute try, a penalty or a field goal .
Even during that Maroons Dynasty period when we won 8 series in a row! It was largely because of that once in a generation Aussie “spine” - they still have to work really hard, fight for every play and every ball, it was never that “easy”. So main series decider was down to a Lockyer last play (2006 which started the ball rolling!), a Thurston side line conversion or a Cronk field goal , it could simply go either way.
I have never seen the Maroons got out played and smashed two games in a row and at home, hate to see what the score line would be like if game 3 can be played at ANZ as planned !

When I first arrived downunder, I landed in Eagle Farm and that’s Queensland, my first ever game of NRL was an Origin match which Queensland won of course, and I had the opportunity to meet the Maroons after the match and met big Mal whose the Captain and had a broken eye socket - it was a real blood bath. While there are so much doom and gloom in losing this years series and the manner in which the current Corp of Maroons had played.
But let’s not forget only a few years back, the Maroons was full of future immortals and we have won the unprecedented 8 series in a row!
Then Cronk was injured very early in Game 1 when we were going for 9 in a row and NSW won by 4, NSW won game 2 by 2 points while Cronk was still out.
When Cronk returned in game 3, we won 32-8
Then we won the next 3 series! And one would wonder were we robbed of winning 12 in a row ?
So, as good and as dominant NSW was in 2021, let’s wait and see how far they can go..........
May be it’s time to relive my prediction at the beginning of that 8th series win . Enjoy all Queenslanders:
While there may be some last minutes changes on the two sides, the teams that were named have very little surprises!
Let's face it, the contests had been fairly tight every year but the big name players from QLD just seems to be able to close out or hold on to win the big games, that's all.
I don't think the Blues can win this as a general team, the team itself is not that far behind the Maroons anyway, it will always come down to some individual brilliants.
If we look at the team selected and corresponse that with their respective Club and the points each Club has on the NRL ladder, the QLD side clearly has an advantage.
This is how I see it, if you give each players from the Bunnys 18 points and 17 points to each Storm players and Eels players gets 6 points and same with the Tigers. The QLD team has a total of 215 points and the Blues 196 points. This means the QLD players on average are playing for better performing NRL Clubs.
Furthermore, the QLD team has 6 players from the top 4 teams while the NSW only has 5. And most significantly, the QLD side has NO players from the bottom 4 teams and NSW has 4 in Hayne (1), Morris (5), Farah (9) and Merrin (16), especially on 1 and 9, two of the key position on the "Spine", they are both great players but their team keep getting bashed week in week out is not gonna help their confidence.
And then you look at the 1 and 9 from QLD, enough said.
Go Queenslanders !!
Just my 7 and soon to be 8 cents
Cheers

Me like many of our fellow Queenslanders who had to endure so much pain and heartbreak when NSW was winning three in a row in the 90’s and then again in the new Millennium. Especially when Joey Johns was dominated after winning game 2 & 3 and have to withstand the calls of: Origin is Dead !

So I sort of went Raiders, Broncos, Storms with a bit of Cowboys in there somewhere. Mainly supporting the key Maroons players. I would have went with Reynolds Walker. Jack Wighton is not a half, he can’t kick, he doesn’t have the ability to bring in his CTW nor the edge backrower into play. All he is good for is 10m out of the try line as a big body. Latrell caught a cold tonight lol.
Still not sold on our forward pack either no heart. Radley needs to be the lock forward for the blues.

Agree with that also, Radley is a must for NSW. I think that Latrell Mitchell will end up being a truly great player but he has to get a lot of shit out of his game, he tries to play the tough guy too much. I am old enough to remember Arthur Beetson playing for Redcliffe in Brisbane as a centre before he went to Balmain and the Roosters...and Latrell is exactly like Beetson...I think he will eventually be moved into the forwards in the future.

The difference between the two is GI had more speed was leaner more athletic better balance. LM has more power better vision and creates something out of nothing. Both tend to go missing both lazy both play better from in front.
NSW messed up with selections, two hookers was a mistake and the non selection of the souffs halves cost us. Moses and especially Wighton should never ever be selected.

I don't usually watch opening ceremonies because I think they are cheesy, cliched, corny, tacky and boring.
But I will make an exception for the Japanese just because they are so wacky.
The Olympics is for a global audience so don't expect the usual Japanese totally non-PC craziness but I am hoping they will sneak in a bit of their wackiness - like maybe some JAV stars riding giant inflatable penises - one can only hope :)
Opening ceremony was a major disappointment.
No JAV stars, no teenage girls in Lolita outfits, no cosplay, no upskirting, no nuru, no drunk salarymen molesting schoolgirls, no hentai with 8 girls being fucked by a giant octopus.
Shame on you Japan. You have let us down,

I like to watch most sports and the Olympics is a chance to watch sports you don't normally see on TV like gymnastics, weightlifting, diving, rowing etc.
But I just like to watch the actual sport, as in athletes running, jumping, lifting, throwing, swimming, punching, kicking etc.
I hate all the bullshit that they have on the coverage, like the corny montages with the motivational and inspirational music, the human interest stories of the athletes hard luck story where his mum has cancer, his dog died but he is still training, I am not interested in any of that shit.
And I especially hate the travelogues they do of the host nation which always goes for the cheesey cliches which in the case of Japan will of course be sushi, sake, sumo, geishas, dressing up in Harajuku, bullet trains etc.
So I think the 7plus website might be a good option for just seeing the sport without all the corny bullshit.
Oh and of course bring back Roy and HG ! They are the one and only exception.

Looking back at the Manu hit, shoulder to the head and clearly the jaw of Manu got up like an egg already and it was definitely a send off - 10 min in the bin, seriously 😤

Australia 3 - China 0
Good start to the final phase of the road to qualifying for the FIFA World Cup in 2022 Qatar by the Socceroos.
I think Australia will easily qualify from this group.
There are some good young players coming up. Not the talent of "Golden Generation" of 1996 to 2010 but a solid team emerging.
Surprised to see Japan lose 1-0 to Oman but I am sure the Japanese will bounce back and qualify automatically. Saudi Arabia will most likely go into the play off.
I don't think China will qualify for Qatar 2022 based on current form.
Although football is huge in China and the domestic league is very strong, it probably relies too much on foreign players and they are not developing local talent enough.
Football is one of the few sports the Chinese can't seem to be good at internationally despite the CCP pumping billions of dollars into it as they do with all sports. From memory I think they have only qualified for the World Cup once.
Anyway FIFA is determined to do everything possible to make China qualify because they desperately want those 1.4 billion consumers watching the World Cup and more importantly all the advertisements, so from 2026 they have expanded the number of nations qualifying from 32 to 48 to give countries like China and the USA more of a chance to qualify.
In the other Asia Group South Korea and Iraq should automatically qualify with Iraq going into the playoff.

@ahlungor :What is your trifecta selection this year ?
Brother deep, here we go:
It's Melbourne Cup time again.
Here are my selections for this year's Cup Trifecta:
With Incentivise the overwhelming favourite at $2.90 and lesser presence of international stayers, this year's Cup could well be an one horse race and we just have to find the horses to run second and third.
If all the well fancy horses run into the placings, this could be a very small payout trifecta.
Therefore, I will recommend we place two trifecta bets, one with 8 horses boxed trifecta like previous years, and one with a standout trifecta for no. 2 to win, if he does, we could easily collect on both tickets:
The Boxed Trifecta: (1, 2, 3, 6, 8, 16, 22, 24)
1. Twilight Payment, defending champion, up in weight, in similar form to last year, Joseph O'Brien is in town and he should run well again leading up front $14.00
2. Incentivise - the boom horse for the Brisbane carnival and just won the Caulfield Cup in similar authority like Might and Power, if he stays, he win, simple as that $2.90
3. Spanish Mission - coming downunder with excellent staying form, have a slight set back which is no good, great UK trainer and Williams on, hope he is fit and well $9.00
6. The Chosen One - ran 4th in the Cup last year, with less international around, he could run a couple more places up. we need him for value $35.00
8. Ocean Billy - Auckland Cup winner on a good track by 2.3L w/56kg, Sportsbet/Ladbrokes both have miss printed his form. 6 of his 7 wins were in fact on good track, knock out chance ! $41.00
16. Grand Promenade - won the Bart Cumming which is a good guide, in form and consistent, loves Flemington, 3 times Cup winning jockey on. $15.00
22. Floating Artist - another in form stayer with no weight. all wins on firm and good track. $12.00
24. Sir Lucan - only Northern Hemisphere 3 yr old in field, Glen Boss will give him every chance, he is a full brother to Sir Dragonet who won the Cox Plate last year and the Tancred Stakes (2400) at Randwick with Boss on. $21.00
It will cost $336.00 for 1 unit - I bet at 50% for $168.00
Second Trifecta with Incentivise to Stand out:
2. Incentivise to win
With the following horses to run 2nd or 3rd:
1, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 10, 12, 15, 16, 21, 22, 23, 24
It will cost $182.00 for 1 unit - I bet at 50% for $91.00
Good luck to us all.
Cheers
rooter
02-11-2021, 01:56 PM
OK, one thing is for absolute 100% certain. Incentivise will NOT win. No fucking way. No chance. Will not happen.
Beyond that, anything is possible.
Spanish Mission is a strong chance, and even Twilight Payment could make history as the fist 9yo to win. Explosive Jack is a chance, and Tralee Rose could do it. And my money is on Verry Eleggant.
Also at least one horse will be shot dead.
That is a Melbourne Cup tradition now - a horse has to be sacrificed every year to placate the bloodthirsty punting gods. If not then they will release a thousand plagues upon us and lets be honest one plague was enough to fuck us, so we don't 1,000 of them. My money is on Delphi to be euthanised/sacrificed.

How good is the Ashes? Two up and could wrap up the series at the G from Boxing Day!
Starc’ first ball Duck set the scene with the new Captain Cummins taking a fiver supported by Warner’s first opening 90’s and Head’s 152!
Total domination!
Then in Adelaide , we saw Warner getting his second opening 90’s with the Marnus century and stand in Captain Smith’s 90’s all valuable runs, Keeper Carey got a half century plus Starc’s 39 no among 80+ runs added by the tails. A very good looking score card and great to see the top order, middle order and the tails all making runs.
Lyon got his 400th plus many more and Richardson finally stood up with a Fiver on the 2nd inning so his spot should be safe now.
How much is the odds for Warner to score a century on the Boxing Day Test ?

Wayne, there are lots of traditions in Sports especially many sporting events with historical significance.
Ever wonder why players can only wear all white attires when playing in Wimbledon?
The Ashes commentators wearing suit and tie should also be part of the traditions. Just like all the trainers and owners have to wear suits to the races, why not? It’s a good way to show respects ! 👏👍

Maybe he can't get vaccinated because of some health issues or whatever? It is very unlikely as he must be really healthy to play at this level but we don't know his private life and it's actually none of our business.
I hope he is treated as everybody: if he has a valid exemption for whatever reason then he has the right to be here right? However if he doesn't have a valid exemption then he shouldn't be here at the first place.
But how come he was able to come here if he was not allowed? Some people did a very bad job somewhere then!

Very interesting that the Victorian Government had put Novak in the Park Hotel, at first I thought that must be one of those luxury 4/5 Star quarantine hotel . But then the news came out that it is in fact a very run down hotel being used for detainees who are asylum seekers and some of them been there for 9 years.
I won’t be surprised if Novak would vow never to return down under after receiving this treatment.
I also think that “rules is rules “, and Novak should be told upfront that if he is not fully vaccinated he won’t be able to enter Australia hence he won’t be defending his title , no mucking around with exemptions and all that.

Problem is Tennis Australia told him he had an exemption. That's why the shit hit the fan when he got here as the Feds never gave him one. TA has a lot to answer for.

The immigration minister explained quite clearly this morning on TV:
Granting someone a Visa to Australia is totally separated from actually allowing someone to enter the country upon arrival. As a Visa could be valid for a few years and during that time, border security could change due to a number of reasons, National Security, Covid Safe Protocols etc.
But I agree with you, Novak has been known for being an antivax, and being the no 1 player in the world and defending champion of the AO, it’s definitely Tennis Australia’s job and top priority to make sure he either CAN come to Australia to play or say not this time, see you when the Pandemic is over. Someone in TA earning a big fat salary needs to be held responsible for the stuff ups.

The whole thing has been a shitfest and could have been resolved without wrecking the tournament.
At 92% vaccinated, there is no risk to us in an unvaccinated person, who does not have COVID coming to this country. The risk is to him. It’s not like he is going to be a drain on the country’s health resources.
As for the argument that there will be an uprising of the unvaccinated - well there already have been for nearly 12 months and I don’t recall seeing any Novak posters in those crowd photos.
This could have all been dealt with by creating a bubble for the tennis players. We do it for the AFL for goodness sakes and the cricket and they do this around the world for different sports.
It’s an embarrassing shambles for Fortress Australia.

Definitely cheering for Rafa. He is my favourite of the Big 3.
Djokovic is a dick head and Roger is a creepy weirdo. Typical Swiss - neither here nor there.
Don't like Medvedev - typical rude Russian. And he looks like a nerdy serial killer too.
But I predict Medvedev will win. Rafa is carrying too many injuries and not getting any younger.
But hopefully the old wounded bull has got one last big game left in him.

I must admit I did give Rafa no chance after he was two sets down as No One had ever come back from 2-0 down and won the AO. So I went to sleep, then about an hour and a half later when I got up to wee, I was checking if my Barty / Medvedev double had been paid by Sportsbet, not yet, check the score and it was two sets all , went downstairs and watched how the Champion becomes the Legend and made History!!
Ps. And my Barty/Nadal double was paid almost instantly………. Haha , two free punts in the Lunar New Year!!

With a name like Gelmi she must be of Italian heritage so she needs to eat a platter of Antipasto, followed by a big plate Spag Bol, followed by Osso Buco with polenta on the side, followed by a big Tiramisu.
All washed down with a few glasses of Sangiovese wine.
And a Fernet Branca will be a nice digestivo after all that indulgence.

There are some hot girls at the Winter Olympics.
It's a shame you can't really have a perve with all the layers of clothing, helmets, face masks, balaclavas etc.
There are a few that get all the attention like Eileen Gu and Chloe Kim, but there are literally dozens of hotties on those snow fields Chinese, Japanese, Swedish etc who are even hotter.
Aussie snowboarder Belle Brockoff isn't that hot, but when they did a live cross to her family, wow her sister is a total babe.
They are halfies. I think the mum is Malaysian going by the accent.
The figure skating is beautiful to watch though. I can have a perve at the petite flexible girls and convince myself I am just watching it for the sport and the artistry :)

Losing two games in a row:
28-6 to the Sharks last night after 36-30 to Manly (the final score was misleading as when Manly got to 36 points, they basically had clocked off, and the Storms scored 4 late tries in the last 5 minutes not helping them to face the Sharks this week !) May be they would do better if they were beaten 36 to 12 instead.

Finally, Nick Kyrgios has reached his first Grand Slam Final in Wimbledon on Sunday. Courtesy of a Rafa withdrawal.
Shall we all be cheering for Nick to beat Novak ??
I think Nick deserved to be there after he took out the 4th seed Tsitsipas, and even if he is beaten on Sunday, his ranking will skyrocket and taking home a cool USD$1.29 million. (winner gets $2.5 M)
Surely the TV rating shall go through the roof !!
Aussie Aussie Aussie!!!
Nick all the way........luv the underdog mentality

Ok, regardless of the final results from here on, I’m a winner in tonight’s Wimbledon:
If Nick wins tonight , I have $30 on him @$4.00 so that’s a RnT session next week.
Otherwise, my Sportsbet multi will win:
Kyrgios to win the first set and served 25 aces, Djokovic to win the match and served 12 aces @$14.00 x $20.00 so that will pay for either two RnT or one FS session in a good shop.
Cheers

Actually I have never won so much in one game when the Maroons were dominating because the odds were so skinny , Queensland in a Game 3 decider at Suncorp at $3.30 ! Plus a saver on Qld +8.5 @$2.00 - it’s easy money really .
I could have won really big if some of the no try were not over ruled .
Papalii, Oates, Harry, DCE and Nanai !!
I have a 5 legs SGM with Qld, Holmes, Oates, Papalii and Hunt @$135.00 for $10. That would have been really nice.

Yeah, even though they have missed all their stars, just a feeling they will still win. Who knows maybe the lingering effects of COVID makes hynes play subpar.

Why not ?
While the Parra has beaten some good teams this season including the Storms , they also loss to the Dogs and Tigers . If the Broncos is on song tonight, they can beat Parra for sure !
Brisbane has beaten the Rabbits twice this year and also the Sharks, so Parra is beatable.
Happy to find out for Brisbane to win 1-12 in the wet @$3.60 !
Ps. The Broncos has 6 Origin players in their line up plus an 18th man.
I’ve put in a SGM with Brisbane 1-12, under 40.5 points and Adam Reynolds to score a try, @$26-1 odd boosted to $30 - with a little $10 bet.

If ever there was a case for disbanding the bunker that decision to award a penalty at full time was it. Disgraceful, as Geoff Toovey would say "There needs to be an investigation". And harry highpants would have to be the worst referee running around. Blows the pea out of the whistle and has no feel for the game.

The Wallabies, they're almost as bad as a toxic relationship with a crazy ex. Every game (esp against the All Blacks) I have high hopes but by the end, I'm left pissed! It's been toooooo long. Missed the glory days when Wallabies ruled.

Two down, one to go!
Both the Wallabies and Sydney Swans got smashed.
South Sydney was looking great in the first half leading 12-0 until the 35th min when the Panthers went Bang Bang it was 12 all at half time then ran away with the game in the second half.
Parra is a massive under dog in the GF next Sunday but capable of winning on best form, they did beat Penrith twice in the regular season.
Neither team is my favourite so just hoping for a high scoring match and win some money on the SGM !!
Penrith to win 42 to 24! All different try scorers and all from the backs will be great !!

11 times group 1 winner, reigning Melbourne Cup champion Verry Elleegant couldn’t make the 20 horses field in the IArc de Triomphe !! Because her current ranking was lowered from 120 to 113.
The French now got one back from the Aussie! A small prize to pay since the cancellation of the multi billion dollar submarine contracts ?
