Hey PornHunter,
Is your friend a 53 yr old health worker ?
If so, then unfortunately he is now no. 9 tested positive in NSW.
As posted before, there were six confirmed cases but the Health Minister just announced this afternoon three more people had also tested positive . No 7 also just came back from Iran, and no. 8 is the sister of no. 6 but she didn’t travel so it is assumed at this stage that she was infected within the local household / family environment.
That no 9 though is a concern as he hadn’t travelled nor in close contact with anyone who had. So now they are investigating very closely all his contacts at work, socially and at home .
I will PM you later Mr AHLUNGOR

It is a great time to punt. The shops are quiet, the girls need money and won’t be getting fucked as much so they will appreciate the business and will be full of energy. They will be more horny as well.
Punt more is my Government advice even if the advice might carry a health warning.

Where did you see me accusing you of anything, piece of sh*t?

Mortality rate isn't the only factor in determining how dangerous a virus is. In fact a lower mortality rate with a higher rate of transmission can be more devastating to the general population than a virus with polar traits, say Ebola. With Ebola the sympoms onset quickly and the host dies too fast for the virus to be transmitted to large numbers.
COVID-19 is scary as at appears to be transmittable in gestation before the host shows symptoms. Most reports suggest 14 days, but some cases have suggested closer to a month. Think about how many people you would be in contact with for a good part of month. How many people would WL/ML be close to in that time!
While 70% of 1000 cases for something nasty like Ebola is bad. 2% potentially 100's million people is fucking horrendous!

Exactly my thoughts on this whole virus thing. Its not about how bad the actual disease is on the person, but just how fast and silently it spreads in the community. Honestly I think the whole world is not taking this thing seriously enough lol, need more travel restrictions.

Australia's already showed with the new corona cases that the solution to this is wash your hands and if you get infected turn yourself in and if your lucky you didn't infect anyone else. The fact that the iran man went home to infect his sister already shows that its leaking and its potentially just a matter of times, incase stricter travel bans are set or a more thorough way to check before there allowed to be inside the country.

Have to agree with your here!
Will have to keep in mind going forward!
It's just that, when you keep the arguments as civil as possible (and expect the same from others) but get an unwarranted & derogatory reaction like that, you can't help but get provoked.
But I agree it's better just to ignore and move on.

Sydney Asian brothels losing business over coronavirus fears
Fear of contracting the COVID-19 coronavirus is impacting Sydney brothels with predominantly Asian establishments reporting loss of business while Australian sex workers experience a rise in demand.
Danielle Gusmaroli, The Daily Telegraph
March 3, 2020 12:36pm
Exclusive: The coronavirus has hit the sex industry with some brothels reporting an eye-watering 84 per cent fall in clients.
Fears of contracting the COVID-19 disease has put punters off visiting Sydney’s predominantly Asian establishments, forcing owners desperate to drum up business to bar Chinese sex workers returning from their virus-hit country for two weeks, the time it can take to develop symptoms.
Some brothels say their Australian sex workers have experienced a rise in demand, leaving the majority of Asian girls twiddling their thumbs.
Business has been so slack at Pyrmont 200, where ten ladies in their 20s predominantly from Bali, Japan and China work the roster, the manager is toying with closing the club’s narrow door in Harris Street.
“If this was my only business, I’d shut it down, we used to have around 23 clients a day, now we have about 15, it’s been like this for six weeks and each week gets worse,” said manager Bing Wang.
“Regulars are panicking and calling asking ‘does anyone have the coronavirus?’ because we do people-to-people touching.
“I’m checking the girls’ Uber apps and bank statements to make sure they’ve been travelling and shopping in Australia for the past 14 days. They’re not allowed back here if they’ve been to China, unless they’ve been in Australia 14 days.
“We’ve lost around 35 per cent of business and I want to assure our regulars it’s safe here. Everyone’s worried, the girls are worried about clients and the clients are worried about the girls.
“On the flip side our Aussie girls are doing great, they’re getting 80 per cent of the business because customers are turning to them.”
Penny’s 77 gentleman’s club in Newtown is still switching on the neon sign beckoning customers up a narrow staircase but business has dropped a staggering 84 per cent in recent weeks, from an average 26 customers a day to four.
“Business is very quiet, we are still getting customers but people are scared,” said the owner of two years who asked not to be named.
“Sunday, we only had four, or five clients, it’s always quiet on Sundays and Mondays but it’s never been like this – customers are ringing up asking ‘are any of your girls sick?’
“I say ‘no, we don't have any sick girls in my shop’. If any of the girls are sick I tell them not to come in.”
Bellevue 12 bordello in Surry Hills, with just a dozen Taiwanese, Chinese and Thai women on its books, says Sunday trade has plummeted from 20 punters a day to an average seven.
“It’s very, very quiet but people are still coming,” said owner Ton Li.
“Customers are worried and don’t want to part with their money – we don't have the virus here.”
Sex worker Claudia at Tiffany’s, perhaps Sydney’s best-known bordello offering standard full service, said: “Touch wood, it’s business as usual here, we haven't been affected.”
Amanda at Kelly’s Asian Flowers in Five Dock says customers are still trickling in.
“It’s very quiet, the virus has made customers nervous,” she said.

Some interesting stats about #coronavirus 🤘🏾food for thought, maybe it’s not as bad as you think 💫
Credit: Roberto Puða
How good is media hype!? Each year the media beats up a new virus for everybody to freak out about, but this one is particularly crazy! And extremely racist...
For people who like data:
82,000 People are sick with Coronavirus at the moment, of which 77,000 are in China.
This means that if you are not in or haven't recently visited China, this should eliminate 94% of your concern.
If you do contract Coronavirus, this still is not a cause for panic because:
81% of the Cases are MILD
14% of the Cases are MODERATE
Only 5% of the Cases are CRITICAL
Which means that even if you do get the virus, you are most likely to recover from it.
Some have said, “but this is worse than SARS!”. SARS had a fatality rate of 10% while COVID-19 has a fatality rate of 2%
Moreover, looking at the ages of those who are dying of this virus, the death rate for the people UNDER 50 years of age is only 0.2%
This means that:
if you are under 50 years of age and don't live in China - you are more likely to win the lottery (which has a 1 in 45,000,000 chance)
Let’s take one of the worst days so far, the 10th of February, when 108 people in CHINA died of Coronavirus.
On the same day:
26,283 people died of Cancer
24,641 people died of Heart Disease
4,300 people died of Diabetes
Suicide took 28 times more lives than the virus did.
Mosquitoes kill 2,740 people every day, HUMANS kill 1,300 fellow humans every day, and Snakes kill 137 people every day. (Sharks kill 2 people a year)
But you go buy your toilet paper if you think it's gonna help...
He got the banned, so we will never know unless he joins under another name.

Just wondering:
Why can’t both the punter and the WL/ML wear a mask during their session ?
Ok, plays and services will be limited : no kissing, no licking, no BJ etc.
But for RnT : HJ, body slides, titty fuck can still be performed!
And for FS, a fuck is a fuck, right ?
Thoughts ?
Ps. A bit of discounting for the lesser services can sweeten the circumstances and perhaps a win win in this crisis?
Some interesting stats about #coronavirus 🤘🏾food for thought, maybe it’s not as bad as you think 💫

I luv u Raybo (no homo)
There needs to be an official declaration from the WHO to tell people to calm down.
And I can tell you folks now, if shit gets nasty in terms of racism or xenophobia, the stats for Humans killing humans will be a far more worrying stat that some weak relative of the Flu.

This is from NSW Health:
How is the virus spread?
Human coronaviruses are spread from someone with confirmed coronavirus to other close contacts with that person through contaminated droplets spread by coughing or sneezing, or by contact with contaminated hands, surfaces or objects.
My question on wearing a mask was mainly trying to eliminate one particular channel of infecting - as highlighted in red above. Isn't that the exact principle reason why people are wearing mask in the first place ?

I agree with wilisno. The fact of the matter is that if yourself and a WL end up in a room together then you’ve both agreed and taken on the inherent risk.
You as punter accepts that the WL or the brothel or the room could of been frequented by someone that could be infected and likewise the WL accepts the risk of a punter who might be. If you’re scared then don’t punt or don’t work as a WL in this current time. There will always be a risk but if you choose to punt or if a WL choose to work then the reward/risk was weighed and reward won out.

One of the shop owners was telling me today that some of his girls don’t want to work at the moment because they don’t want to catch the virus.
I had a fuck this afternoon with a new WL and she said to me best not to kiss because of the virus so normal service may be affected.
Perhaps she just thought that I was an ugly fucker and it was a good excuse not to kiss me. Funny thing was though that she was a petite girl with a really tight tight pussy. So far not WL/ML or shop have infection reported?????

07-03-2020, 01:36 AM
Hands aren't really included.. You won't get infected through intact skin. Virus particles on your hands get in through your mucus membranes in your eyes, nose and mouth when you touch your face.
So sex wearing a respirator, sealed eye goggles and a condom should be safe. But you have to get them on clean and off cleanly too. And you need to wash any virus off before touching anywhere near a mucous membrane. This would be quite a challenge.
Wearing a mask, goggles, and condom, and a thorough shower and hand wash after while being careful about what you touch would vastly reduce the risk. This is close to the clinical precautions taken when treating infected people (no condom needed though). it would be quite a fetish.
I don't think anyone can say for sure if you can get infected with Coronavirus via genital mucosa. I guess you can. I wonder if it presents differently at all.
So you won’t get infected even through bare hands on bare dick ? You’re the medical authority ? Be my guest, do whatever you want !
Btw, even the medical authorities don’t know all about it yet !
wilisno
07-03-2020, 02:25 AM
If those bare hands are not clean then they are getting a bit close to the mucous membranes. That's why I included the condom as part of the ppe.
But no, intact bare skin on intact bare skin will not transmit the infection.
Same question, are you the medical authority, or we just have to believe you that skin contact won’t transmit infection ?
And have you heard an RnT place offering condomed hand job ?

I'm not surprised this is happening. There will be many cases out there. The universities are advising their foreign students how to get around the Australian travel ban that is, don't fly directly from China and stop over in a country like Thailand. The Australian Government has done nothing about closing down this loophole in the travel ban which is being exploited by some travellers.
At the same time, the western shops are currently doing well because some punters don't want to take any risk of catching the virus from girls that have been in China and returned via Thailand.

The biggest part is the punter. Given the reluctance of punters to actually own up they have been to RNT or Brothel, shops and Ml/WL will go undetected. Which is kind of dangerous. Having said that i don't think it is more risk than you travel on a packed train or bus.

Believe me or not. It is correct. Go and ask your Dr or research it yourself. Intact skin is an almost perfect barrier to infections. Viruses get in through broken skin or abrasions and through mucous membranes. If skin wasn't an effective barrier to infection, then washing your hands wouldn't help. The virus on your hands would have already infected you.
Washing hands does help because it washes away the pathogens before they get into your mucous membranes. Everyone please wash your hands.
I haven't heard of HJ with condom service but I haven't heard of a RnT offering full contact and droplet infection control precautions either!
I haven’t heard of an infection from a brothel either, does it mean it’s safe to punt ?
If you’re not the authority, don’t pretend to know everything, I would rather say what is risky as far as I know, but I would not say what is safe, even the medical professionals don’t know for sure yet !

What i said was correct. I think you need to relax. There are people advising on strategies to convince WLs to have bbfs on here. I am just giving you the biological facts regarding how viruses spread via the contact route. I corrected wilisno's misunderstanding about skin to skin transmission. The virus does not go through the skin. We know this. There are no viruses that can penetrate intact skin. I am not infallible but I know what I am talking about. If you want to, go ahead and prove me wrong.
[QUOTE=retrospect;1949137]
So sex wearing a respirator, sealed eye goggles and a condom should be safe.
That’s what I’m talking about ! There’s no misunderstanding on my part, maybe on yours.
And the statement that no virus can go through intact skin might be what is understood by the medical community at the moment, but they are not sure yet. Who knows maybe later they found out the virus can get through via perspiration or something like that.
If they are so sure, they wouldn’t have recommended isolation, quarantine, etc etc

Got diarrhea for the first day then just enjoyed my time after that not having to worry about when I'll get a stomach bug. The other tourist avoided street food, tap water etc. always worrying but most of them eventually got stomach upsets by the end of the tour.

Mate, it is pretty absurd to wear a respirator and goggles during sex. But if you wear all that and manage to take it off cleanly and wash thoroughly afterwards (actually a very difficult thing to do), you should be safe. That is not wrong. Unless you have some uncovered skin breaches (you should cover them and remove cleanly afterwards).
The only place left the virus could get in is if you manage to get it up your arse so maybe a large piece of duck tape to seal that up would be a good idea!
What we really need is full body plastic coveralls with built in respirator and condom. You go in wearing that to meet your naked WL, do the deed, exit through decon showers, then suit off and into the normal shower, dress and leave. All rooms flooded with formaldehyde as soon as you leave, ready for the next customer.
You’re a very confused person mate !
It’s you who promote those measures and swear by it that it’s safe, and you try to sell it to me ?
I just wrote an AR a few days ago, I didn’t resort to anything you suggest. Yet I won’t promote any unqualified techniques to give others the false sense of safety, it’s a personal choice to take the risk or not !

There is also irresponsible advice to just catch the virus and you'll be fine and wrong advice that it's no worse than the flu. What I described is close to what you do if you actually work handling the virus. I am not suggesting it as a viable practical option.lighten up.
A large number of Australians are going to catch this virus with the current approach to managing it. Maybe more than half of us. A significant number will die. What I post on some obscure internet forum is not going to have any measurable effect.
The others clearly displayed it’s their own belief, not quoting anything they found on the internet to act like an authority of everything, so that’s how others will perceive, no harm done.

So by that logic should people actively look to contract HIV/AIDS so they dont need to worry about wearing protection? :miao:
Good point. Well you got to put into perspective your current situation, age, the severity of the disease, cost benefits analysis. I'm young, non-smoker, relative healthy, at an age-group where the motality rate for covid-19 is less than 1%, single, work at home and can isolate myself at home. I wouldn't do it if I was 50+ and come into contact with people regularly.

When I went to Vietnam on a tour group, the tour guide tells you not to drink tap water. The first thing I deliberately did was drink the local water. Got diarrhea for the first day then just enjoyed my time after that not having to worry about when I'll get a stomach bug. The other tourist avoided street food, tap water etc. always worrying but most of them eventually got stomach upsets by the end of the tour.
Anyway the moral of the story, I'd rather just get the coronavirus sooner rather than later so I can just move on and enjoy life.
That’s an idea! It’s like a crude form of a vaccine.
Sadly with this virus, there are already two strains of Covid 19, L strain and S strain. One is more transmissible but less serious, other is the opposite on both accounts .

I wonder if there are technologies to check people’s body temperature as you walk through a gate - like those in the airport detecting metal ?
But how much would it cost to install in public transport and the delay and man power required to police that ?
In the 60 min last night it was showing a restaurant in Hong Kong in which a staff was standing at the door checking temperature on customers fore head before allowing him inside, and once two customers sat down on a table opposite each other the staff put down a plastic partition on the table separating the two, first time I see that. I guess that’s one of the reason why Hong Kong people as a whole have done really well containing the outbreak of Covid19 in comparison to other parts of the world . Still only 110 confirmed cases so far.

ps. it's almost a miracle that Hong Kong and Macau have done so well in containing the virus being directly connected with mainland China ! The people there all went through the outbreak of SARS back in 2003 and are very self disciplined in wearing masks, avoiding social gathering, washing hands regularly and use sanitizer, working from home, schools are still closed at the moment. May be the world should take note of their proven methods ?
BTW, I must take my hat off to the CEO of Macau Mr Ho who did a great job for the region. And had been few steps ahead of Carrie Lam (Hong Kong CEO) in response to the outbreak, he closed the border almost immediately, they purchased ALL the available face masks from Portugal so there was no shortage in Macau (the government actually gave out the masks to its people for free. (while the HK government couldn't get any !!), he shut down the casino, nightclub, sauna, restaurant and all public venues for 2 weeks, etc. etc. now world leaders, are you guys learning ??

I believe the figures in Vietnam to be true. Not because the government in Vietnam is honest nor any more competent at controlling the virus but it's the warm temperatures that keeps infection rates low - averaging 35 degrees this week in the capital. Just a hypothesis that the coronavirus will follow past flu infections correlating with the climate.

I am with this doctor.....
I'm a doctor and an Infectious Diseases Specialist. I've been at this for more than 20 years seeing sick patients on a daily basis. I have worked in inner city hospitals and in the poorest slums of Africa. HIV-AIDS, Hepatitis,TB, SARS, Measles, Shingles, Whooping cough, Diphtheria...there is little I haven't been exposed to in my profession. And with notable exception of SARS, very little has left me feeling vulnerable, overwhelmed or downright scared.
I am not scared of Covid-19. I am concerned about the implications of a novel infectious agent that has spread the world over and continues to find new footholds in different soil. I am rightly concerned for the welfare of those who are elderly, in frail health or disenfranchised who stand to suffer mostly, and disproportionately, at the hands of this new scourge. But I am not scared of Covid-19.
What I am scared about is the loss of reason and wave of fear that has induced the masses of society into a spellbinding spiral of panic, stockpiling obscene quantities of anything that could fill a bomb shelter adequately in a post-apocalyptic world. I am scared of the N95 masks that are stolen from hospitals and urgent care clinics where they are actually needed for front line healthcare providers and instead are being donned in airports, malls, and coffee lounges, perpetuating even more fear and suspicion of others. I am scared that our hospitals will be overwhelmed with anyone who thinks they " probably don't have it but may as well get checked out no matter what because you just never know..." and those with heart failure, emphysema, pneumonia and strokes will pay the price for overfilled ER waiting rooms with only so many doctors and nurses to assess.
I am scared that travel restrictions will become so far reaching that weddings will be canceled, graduations missed and family reunions will not materialize. And well, even that big party called the Olympic Games...that could be kyboshed too. Can you even
imagine?
I'm scared those same epidemic fears will limit trade, harm partnerships in multiple sectors, business and otherwise and ultimately culminate in a global recession.
But mostly, I'm scared about what message we are telling our kids when faced with a threat. Instead of reason, rationality, openmindedness and altruism, we are telling them to panic, be fearful, suspicious, reactionary and self-interested.
Covid-19 is nowhere near over. It will be coming to a city, a hospital, a friend, even a family member near you at some point. Expect it. Stop waiting to be surprised further. The fact is the virus itself will not likely do much harm when it arrives. But our own behaviors and "fight for yourself above all else" attitude could prove disastrous.
I implore you all. Temper fear with reason, panic with patience and uncertainty with education. We have an opportunity to learn a great deal about health hygiene and limiting the spread of innumerable transmissible diseases in our society. Let's meet this challenge together in the best spirit of compassion for others, patience, and above all, an unfailing effort to seek truth, facts and knowledge as opposed to conjecture, speculation and catastrophizing.
Facts not fear. Clean hands. Open hearts.
Our children will thank us for it.

I wouldn't be surprised. We are called "the lucky country" because we survive on blind luck. A bit of good ol Aussie "she'll be right, mate" attitude goes a long way... In screwing us over in a pandemic like this. Just look at how they discharged those first few confirmed cases after only 2 days of hospitalization, saying they were fine. That was weeks ago, when even scientists didn't know much about how contagious the virus was or how long people remained contagious, etc. That was a seriously stupid move!

AH, you are correct with the countries experiencing the most problems so far. Here is an interesting coincidence. They are all in winter and their average nighttime temperatures range from 3 to minus 5. There has been commentary as to why Vietnam and Thailand are not topping the charts and temperature may be a factor. I have just finished reading a piece about the lack of cases in Africa at present and that has the experts perplexed. Maybe the hotter weather can slow this down. Also gives some legs to the problem getting worse in 6 weeks. Our nighttime temperatures drop to single digits in May. Still, let's all just keep calm, practice good hygiene and stay away from the sick or the elderly. Just as the sun will rise in the east tomorrow, life will go on. Just be your best to be part of it🙂🙂
Not really.

Reading the replies I am surprise how ignorant Australians are, but then I shouldn't be surprise cos I was like that too. Until my work colleague ask me a question: "Do you know what happen to you if you catch the virus and get sick?" I said its like getting flu right? "WRONG!!" My colleague reply:"Its a strain of pneumonia and its damage is permanent, it scar your lungs and very often left some permanent damage at your respiratory system." "To make its worse there is not antibiotics for this virus so its harder to kill."
At that point I start to re think my attitude towards the virus and I took his comment seriously as his son is a doctor in hospital. Further reading shows that although not everyone infected will be as seriously affected as my colleague suggested, but its always possible. I also now understated when the Asians react so strongly as they have been through SARS. They are much more knowledgeable hence they are better prepared.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/mar/10/covid-19-coronavirus-flattening-the-curveWe have to remember, stopping the flights from these countries doesn't equal to goods from these countries can't come through. The virus is carried by people not Fiats, Fords, Samsung phones, Kia, etc.
Yes, airlines will be hit. Holiday businesses will be hit. That unfortunately is unavoidable. But other businesses are flourishing, medical companies, pharmaceutical companies, even toilet paper companies. They have increased hiring and production to 24 hours.
Even the articles are saying we need to buy time for our medical and age care facilities to ramp up to cope with the impending wave of infected. Stopping tourist from these countries does just that.

Obviously some countries are worse affected by the virus but the media hype makes it seem like it is hardly safe to go to the local shopping centre, let alone consider travelling anywhere.
The panic caused by sensationalistic media reporting is going to send many small businesses broke.
People need to be aware that, yes, there is a virus out there, and yes....it has the capability to kill vulnerable people. But to let it control our lives.... There are lots of things that can kill us but we usually accept that risk and continue to live our lives.

And as I was typing this reply my mom called me from overseas checking up on me and mentioned Tom Hanks and his wife contracted the virus here in Australia (I am not sure if this is true). Tsk tsk.

I read/heard something and can’t remember where? That the air we breathe on an airplane was actually coming out from high pressure compressed air cylinders and as a result, it’s actually quite safe to breathe in ? Because the temperature of the air was almost freezing so virus can’t survive there?
Just wasn’t sure how the circulation systems would work, it’s still an enclosed and very congested small space isn’t it ?
Any experts here ?

I have heard the same thing, but find it confusing as it's usually very easy to pick up bugs when travelling on planes.

It’s 50% recycled and 50% new air from outside. It all goes through a filter so it’s 100% safe. The danger is being in close proximity with someone who may be contagious for hours. Add to that the low level of hygiene and the chances are high you will be infected is high.

The only stored air in a plane is oxygen for the emergency system. Fresh air is circulated from outside by the engines and processed to a comfortable temperature. Stake air would be bled out, controlled by the pressurisation inside.I don't think there would be many viruses floating around at cruising altitudes.
Google it for more details.

Add to that the low level of hygiene and the chances are high you will be infected is high.HEPA filters used on planes are meant to trap small particulates like dust or ash. Not viruses. So unless planes do what hospitals are doing, filtering the air through a UVC system to kill off any bacteria & viruses. The same air generally is circulated with mix of some air from outside but minus some dust.

Shutting borders will be wise...bring school holidays forward and give 2 weeks mandatory closer. 2-3 weeks of economic loss is nothing compared to lives....so long as it's warm get this done....when winter sets in....no use fighting this virus....it will only grow stronger.

I can tell you the entire health system and and health workers at all levels right now are very tense. What is coming is something no one, no matter how experienced and expert, has ever experienced. Everyone knows it but no one will say it because no one believes it.
There is no reason that what has happened in Italy will not happen here. Can some one give me a good reason why it won't happen?
When we look at China, well, China happily sacrifices lives for political reasons. Iran also. So there is good reason to believe we would do better. But not Italy. Italy's case fatally rate is getting up towards 10%. People are dying not because they are too sick, but because there is not enough treatment to go around.
France, Germany, Greece and the rest of Europe will be next. The USA is fucked. They don't have the health system to cope and the horse has bolted there. I think they will be overwhelmed in a few weeks. I hope I am wrong.
Australia is not magically immune. We need to close our borders tomorrow. All the government is talking about is the economic cost. How do you value the lives lost economically? What is the trauma of watching people die that you can't save because there are just too many people dying worth economically? The cost of shutting down everything, literally everything, will be more than the cost of closing the borders now, anyway.
There is still a reasonable chance that we can contain or at least slow the outbreaks we have. Not with open borders. We need wider test criteria and more testing. We need a better, more reliable, validated test. We need to give the infected and isolate them until they are well. South Korea is an example we could follow here.
Today the nsw health minister said we can expect 1.5 million people in nsw to be infected. That is the most optimistic forecast. It could easily be twice that. But that forecast still equates to 180k serious cases requiring ICU level of care to survive. If those cases are spread out evenly over a year, that's 500 new ICU admissions a day. They won't be spread evenly and we have no chance of coping anyway.
This is not the flu. The flu never hospitalises 15% of those infected. Many of those require ventilation and even heat lung bypass to survive this infection.
I really hope there is some secret plan that I don't know about right now. We are all in for some very hard times ahead. But the pm goes on TV tonight to feed us bullshit about how his economic plan will lead us to prosperity. Please. Eventually, we will all be rich if we survive, and that will be worth losing our loved ones. We won't be rich anyway.
I was really hoping he was going to make a sombre speech to prepare us, the Australian people, for the battle ahead that we have to face. But no he's all 'everything is great, we'll just get some apprentices. Let's not talky about the casualties'
Eh. Fuck. I am ranting.
Too many idiots that buy into the bs narrative that this is somehow similar to the seasonal flu. The only thing we have going for us are the extra strong UV rays and a few months worth of time before we hit winter

Eh. Fuck. I am ranting.Europe, USA, Italy even here will have huge numbers of infected. Simply because there is no policing for sick or potentially sick ppl to isolate themselves. So many people have returned from infected countries like Iran, Korea, etc who are supposed to "self isolate" goes right out to work or into the crowds, etc.
While we may slam China for their political harshness. They have shown that strong policing to isolate people is effective in controlling the spread. For a country that has 1.3Billion ppl to have only 80k infected is no mean feat. Look at Italy, while it's closed its borders, people who may be potentially sick are still free to roam around everywhere inside its borders.

Yes, this virus is like a big F-you to human rights activists everywhere. When it all boils down, which one do you choose, human rights or human survival?
They called this a "black swan" event for financial markets, I think it will go further than that. Could it change the world order? It is exposing fundamental weaknesses in all countries. Like Italy, always had a huge problem with its ageing population... The oldest median age in all of Europe. That's why the death rate there is so high.
Or the US. Why do you think stock markets are panicking the moment it hit the US? Their medical infrastructure is too fragile, too weak to deal with this scale of epidemic. Only rich people can afford healthcare there. Worse, their Donald is only thinking about keeping his job!
However, you look at China: authoritarian, single-minded, focused on the health of the nation, seems to not give a shit about human-rights. That is the best way to fight this thing!

I think the lesson is there for the world to see and learn and copy fast! How Hong Kong and Singapore could keep the no of infected to below 200 and Macau only got 10 !! Then look at the rest of the world !
Not if or but, it’s just a matter of time and time is fast running out.
She’ll be right mate ain’t right any more and people in the beginning thought this is just a China problem , think again , what would the S Korea and Japanese Government would pay to have the time wind back to January and did things differently.
Ask any of the Italian, German, French or Spanish authorities if they have any regrets Now ?
If Morrison still think we are a lucky country and so far away from everything , we are doomed.
The moment a massive outbreak of infections from the Grand Prix, the Golden Slipper, or half of a NRL or AFL team will need to be quarantined then it would be too late. No one will criticise the Government in doing too much , if we can get through the next few weeks with small number of new infections, the public will thank the government. Is the lesson from Europe not clearly enough ??
Close the bloody border NOW, stop all international travel coming in, closed the schools and bring the holiday forward, cancel the Grand Prix, delay they NRL and AFL seasons for a month or play in an empty stadium , take your pick !
Germany had an extra 800 new cases in one day, now over 2,400!
Italy had reached 15,000 and more than a 1,000 death or something like that.
Morrison really think Westmead can cope with even 10% of that problem??
It’s now or tooooo late !

It's definitely a crazy time.
Remember to wash your hands properly with soap, try not to touch things in public (hand rails etc) and cough into your elbow. These are really simple things, but I am still stunned that people don't do this. I was at Westfield yesterday, and people are still grabbing the handrail on the escalators, then touching their face. People still go to the toilet and then don't wash their hands, or just stick them under the water for a second - That's not washing your hands and it's unhygienic at the best of times. - Rant over.
Hope everyone stays safe.

Very good points, something very simple like washing your hands regular with soap and for at least 20 seconds will go a long way in keeping your personal hygiene and if everyone is keeping this up and avoid shaking hands and touching surfaces while in public is also very important. The other day I was walking down the street and saw an older gentleman who used his elbow to touch the traffic light button, I think that's smart and I followed that since.
unfortunately, the problem we are facing now in Sydney is that if you want to wear a mask, there ain't no stock any where or you can pay $5.00 each, so who can afford that. And you try to keep a bottle of hand sanitizer handy in your office or in your pocket, try buy one at Woolies !

OK, happy to see some decisive actions so far today:
F1 Grand Prix: Cancelled.
Golden Slipper: well, we won't even get that far, the All Star Miles tomorrow at Caulfield will race with no crowds (same as Hong Kong and Japan for weeks now !), same with Rosehill I assume.
Footy: As advised by Chief Medical Officer Brendan Murphy that all events with more than 500 people to be banned. Most likely all NRL and AFL matches will be played in empty stadiums, but at least we can still watch them on TV with no risks and still have a punt on the footy TAB !
Next up I hope they will close all the schools from Monday and STOP all international travels !
God Bless Australia !!
Only a recommendation on events over 500 people at present. But I suspect most major bodies will follow it.
Not closing schools is silly.
Kids are going to be big transmitters - mostly asymptomatic when they have it, and less likely to follow good hand hygiene and not touching mouth, nose etc

Infection rate in kids aren't' high enough to warrant school closures..... but we might just get a full blown lock down.
Kids typically not showing symptoms, so typically not being tested under our current merhodology.
Note also that some 95+% of people being tested are testing negative - plenty of other colds around.

Because kids are transmitting the virus and they do no present much or any symptoms. Thus elders or sick people around the kids are getting infected without knowing that they got it from the kids. That's one of the main reason Italy has a high death rate with school closure.
It's about breaking the cycle.

I think with most diseases the first sufferers will have it worst. That is because there is no treatment and so the effects are most serious. Once they develop treatments that will reduce symptoms then catching it will have less serious permanent damage to your body.

Good luck in finding any supplies of masks here. The government says it is prepared for this pandemic but there's no way our health system will be able to cope with this huge problem. The number of cases is increasing and we don't know how many other cases of people who are infected and have not reported to health authorities. There was one case in NSW where the police were called in to get an infected person hospitalised because the infected person refused to do so.

Good move from the Govt today following the lead from NZ but will still need to get in control of this and take a leaf out of HK and Taiwan book's with how they have handled this virus.
Face mask, and temp check should be the norm when out and about.
Is a shame this Govn have to follow the kiwi led. No leadership. This should have been done 1/2 week ago. We have a no worry mate Govn and she be alright mate attitude. Not surprise we end up like Europe now.

Good luck in finding any supplies of masks here. The government says it is prepared for this pandemic but there's no way our health system will be able to cope with this huge problem. The number of cases is increasing and we don't know how many other cases of people who are infected and have not reported to health authorities. There was one case in NSW where the police were called in to get an infected person hospitalised because the infected person refused to do so."self quarantine" here is a joke. My cousin at USYD says one student came back from Italy and went to class after being told to "self quarantine"... Few days later had fever than went and got a positive test. Now all the students that shared the same lecture or tutorial classes have to be asked to stay away from school and "self quarantine"... Wonder how many of them will go hang out in the malls next [emoji6]

Anyone noticed that our PM is a dead set follower rather than a leader ??
Firstly , the Diamond Princess evacuations: too complicated, can’t be done! But as soon as the US had sent chartered planes to pickup the Americans onboard, suddenly, yes we can !
And for so long we were ( or at least some of us !) urging the government to take decisive actions to close our border or stop incoming international travels , no , too hard and it will hurt the economy!
But as soon as the Kiwi PM Jacinta made her announcement! Within 24 hr, our PM follow suit !
Well, it’s still better late than never ?
Just reminded me about the performance between the CEO of Macau who had been doing a brilliant job in leading the region to combat the virus from day one vs his very ordinary counter part from Hong Kong.

Scomo is a follow look at Wuhan evacuation Very hard to do then countries like Thailand/Malaysia/Japsn/uncle Sam/uk can do it faster then we can. He is just too relax and comfortable. She be alright mate attitude. Only the fire burn his ASS! Than he move. My feeling his Chief medical advisors are useless. I don't follow their advice anymore. I just learn from taiwan/Singapore/HK/China advice. Advice here is slow and the government is not proactive. Always wait and see.

If he had better advisers he would be more proactive and not be a follower. He can't act on his own. He listens to his advisers and they are letting him down when the government should be taking action immediately.

His call and action are not up to standard in time of crises and emergency. We want him to led not to follow and waiting for advice. Is a judgment thing either you have it or you don't. He fail during the recent bushfire and now this covid19 a disaster is waiting to happen like italy/France/spain/uk/USA. We are an island nation quarantine and isolation is the best defense and take control of the crisis.

He doesn't want to piss the voters off, so watch and wait , the problem is his teams of advisors, like when we had the fires, I bet his team were saying, stay and enjoy Hawaii it is under control, "she be right".
And why didn't the state get active more, no they left it for federal because they didn't want to upset anyone.
A good team should have stepped in till he was back, no senseable leadership anywhere in our system, and now same thing, leave it for the big guy to look bad

The government and the PM have to take into account what is also in the best interests of the economy. By closing all borders and not letting anyone in, they claim such move will make our economy crash. Therefore, it is better to let people get infected and eventually some people will die then let the country's economy collapse. They are not willing to do what China did that is tackle the problem head on with all resources and immediately.

To be fair, he was always a follower until he accidentally became leader thanks to yet another of our Great Aussie Traditions, namely the Great Aussie PM Switcheroo.
It's not, like, anybody voted him into power or anything. He just got it because he was there and there was nobody else better for the job in Liberal.

The Australian government is encouraging social distancing to reduce transmission which will enable health systems to cope. Washing hands and sneezing into elbows on their own won't be enough to extinguish the pandemic. The WHO is urging all nations to 'test, test and test every suspected case'. This is not occurring here because there is not enough equipment to go around. It is obvious and the government is aware of this that our health system won't be able to cope with this pandemic.

Its inevitable that RnTs and brothels will have to shut their doors for a while, you cant really have social distancing in these places, I am surprised it hasnt happened sooner........
Unfortunately I think you will be right. Councils are the zoning body to these establishments and the way they are ^assisting^ their staff with health and hygiene matters it is a wonder that any business is operating. The thought that workers will be out of a job falls flat when you consider airlines, cruise lines and a lot of hospitality businesses are basically closed.
I think any shop wanting to get in front of curve should be implementing temperature checking as a minimum. Update their cleanines and probably the most important, pray nobody who tests positive can be traced back to them. Stay safe everyone🤞🤞

EVERY ONE should be staying home except for essential purposes. All venues where people gather should shut. We don't have the capacity to treat enough people. We don't have the capacity the test enough people. Our count of infected is lagging because we can't keep up with demand. Those who are infected today will present to hospital in about 12 days on average. The numbers are doubling every 2 to 3 days. We have 2000 ICU beds in the whole country. Total capacity, not spare capacity. The economic modelling is wrong. They are counting public panic as a cost of taking action. It is a cost of the epidemic and will be worse without action. Some countries understand this. Some would rather be rich than alive.
Well said, it's now all up to the respective government/leaders to manage their country's own fate ! Leaders who have the foresight/guts to implement immediate and more drastic measures/actions will be rightfully rewarded with less infections in their own domain !!
If the figures coming out of China is reliable, then the outbreak in China and HuBei should have been plateaued ?
In a more promising view, the numbers in S Korea and Japan have also seemed to be more steady in the past week sitting around 8,000 and 800 something respectively without the rapid rising like weeks before. So there may still be an Olympic happening in July, whether Japan will let everyone except the athletes and officials into the country would be anyone's guess. I don't understand why Morrison didn't go all the way in terms of shutting down the country for two weeks. Wait and see any longer will just make the matter worst.
The Chinese government media is now praising themselves in locking down HuHan and contained the outbreak. and think the world should thank them. As according to the Chinese propaganda, if they had delayed the lockdown for another week. The infected numbers now could be 3 times highers. However, the immediate response from some medical experts was that if China had actioned the lockdown a week earlier, the numbers would have been only one third of what it is now today (meaning 25K instead of 80K! ). take your pick.
So, should we do everything we can NOW ? or wait another week or two until our numbers exploded to thousands like Europe - then do the shut down when it could be all bloody toooooo late ??

The Coronavirus while could bring out some ugly and worst human behaviours - at the same times, it also shows us the best, I think I should share this:
This happened yesterday at Woolworths near work:
I was browsing the aisles trying to find some hand sanitizers for the office (there were none !), and walked past the section where toilet papers are usually stored, all the shelves were empty which didn't surprised me. What turned out to be a really heart warming and pleasant surprise was that a very older Aussie lady on a walking stick was quite upset and distressed as she can't get any toilet paper, then another middle aged Aussie lady from behind me said:
here you go love, take this, this should be good for you for a week (and handed over a pack of 10 toilet rolls, she has two packs in her trolley)
The old lady said, oh no, I can't take this from you, you must have family too,
it's ok darling, you were actually in the shop before me but you can't find the shelves, I was just walking quicker than you that's all, so please take this .
Oh, thank you so much, you are so kind, God bless you.
Now, if we do survive this thing, it would be largely due to this unselfish true blue spirits !
God bless us all.

We can see now countries taken extreme isolation/quarantine are doing better than the relax attitude or don't care attitude. What we need now is all countries in the world to do their parts is isolation their citizens for a few weeks including not infected countries. Yes China, if the locals authorities are more open things would have been control better. I hope they learn and we in the west also learn the about our own problems. The western countries government is run by public opinion and afraid do the wrong thing so a wait and see attitude sat in. While a government like China opinion/news is too control you see the problem even if you are telling the truth you can be arrested. So people keep to things to themself.
Experience with wl/ml if you know them as regular you see how life is hard in China and control. The girls don't talk much on WeChat but if alone in room or going out you hear things.
Not sure if you can believe China numbers.
In Singapore, the last two days have been their biggest increases with 30 new cases.
Agree, the hobby is just not sensible at present. No point washing your hands six times a day then doing it.

All speculations, I know it's a threat but this is just creating panic among people. Its no way going to be like Italy for sure
I have heard that Doctors from a major Sydney Hospital have written to our leaders stating that on current growth rates Oz will be in a worse position than Italy in 3 weeks. I also believe that they may make the letter publicAnd people complain about mixed messages.
Too many friggin experts.
We have a chief medical officer for a reason
Got a different view. Raise it internally.
